Mother, son found dead in Gwinnett apartment

NORCROSS, GA – Gwinnett County Police responded to a request for a welfare check at an apartment in the 3300 block of Chelsea Park Lane in Norcross Sunday evening and found the bodies of two people, later identified as 61-year-old Nicola Sramek and her son, 29-year-old James Sramek.

Family members had contacted police last Sunday, saying they had not been able to contact their relatives. When officers arrived, they found the victims inside the apartment. Officers said the deaths were treated as suspicious, and homicide detectives responded.

According to Gwinnett County Police Corporal Deon Washington, the manner and cause of death will be determined by the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner, as will the approximate length of time the victims were inside the apartment.

Neighbors are being urged to come forward with any information related to suspicious activity or sounds that may have come from the apartment over the past week.

Detectives have interviewed numerous witnesses and are following several leads in the case.

Cpl. Washington said it appears this was an isolated incident involving the victims.

Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact CrimeStoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477). Tipsters can remain anonymous, and can receive a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.
