Over 70 people came to celebrate the ribbon cutting at the Georgia Manufacturing Alliance’s (GMA) new headquarters in Lawrenceville. GMA members, Gwinnett Chamber and Gwinnett County representatives came to show support for an organization that has been supporting the manufacturing community statewide since 2008. “Over the past 10 years, we have built a solid foundation of leaders statewide that will be able to support the imminent growth of manufacturing in Georgia,” said Jason Moss, founder and CEO of the Georgia Manufacturing Alliance. “We are excited about what the future holds for our members and the manufacturing community in our state.” Moss welcomed the guests with an announcement that the BuyFromGeorgia.com website has been redesigned to highlight over 1,000 Georgia made products that can be purchased via Amazon. More than 250 apartments proposed near Mall of Georgia

The apartments are proposed for a 22-acre tract on Laurel Crossing Parkway, a street that juts off of Ga. 20 about half a mile north of Coolray Field, the home of the Gwinnett Braves baseball team. The property is also just across I-85 from the Mall of Georgia. Pedcor Investments LLC recently filed documents with the Gwinnett County planning commission asking for the property to be rezoned to a classification that will allow for multifamily housing. The site is currently zoned for office-industrial and business districts. Pedcor wants to build 256 apartments spread across 10 different buildings. “The proposed development would also include a clubhouse and several amenities for residents,” planning documents said, “including outdoor recreation areas, fitness center, business center and a pool.” The planning commission is scheduled to consider the rezoning proposal at its Sept. 5 meeting.
